Activism to end violence against<a href=\"https:\/\/casa-india.org\/gender-justice\" rel=\"noopener\" target=\"_blank\"> women empowerment<\/a> and girls\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Background<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>In the midst of a fatal pandemic and uncertain times, one of the other widespread epidemics of all times that often remains unreported is Gender based violence (GBV). Globally, one in three girls and women have struggled against violence inflicted on their gender. GBV in India is experienced in various forms of inhuman activities, which includes verbal abuse and coercion that is physically, psychologically, sexually, economically and domestically violent. In India, studies (National Family Health Survey -4) suggest that about 30% of women between the age of 15- 49 have experienced physical violence, about 6 % suffered sexual violence at least once in lifetime and about 31% of married women have experienced physical, sexual and emotional violence. <\/p>\n<p>16 days of activism is a global effort in addressing and challenging all forms of violence against women and girls. The campaign is observed from the 25th of November which is the International Day of Elimination of violence against women until the 10th of December which is observed as the Human Rights Day. This dates also signifies that violence against women is a violation of Human Rights.<\/p>\n<p>CASA has been more active in the service for the vulnerable and marginalized communities. Through its various interventions at the local, national and global levels, CASA has been addressing Gender Justice issues and advancing efforts in improving the socio-economic conditions of women and girls and advocating to overcome all forms of violence against the gender. This year again, we join the global efforts of 16 days of activism under the theme UNITE! Activism to end violence against women and girls by 2030.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Objectives<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Strengthening the institutional efforts in addressing and joining the global efforts to overcome Gender based violence by using social media as a tool<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Awareness through legal frameworks on gender-based violence<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u201cUNITE!
