| CASA contributes to the Himachal Pradesh Dist.Disaster Management Plan, Kullu |
We are pleased to inform you that CASA has substantially contributed to the recently published District Disaster Management plan jointly prepared by Kullu District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Himachal Pradesh . In the document you can see the contribution of our apex PAT unit CSK (Chetna Samiti Kullu) in Kullu, local CASA unit and Mountain Forum Himalayas (an effort of CASA in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand) in preparing this district disaster management plan and a separate chapter dedicated to CASA’s PROPOSAL OF DISASTER YOUTH VOLUNTEER on page 197. You can also see Chapter – 6.3, Resource plan, Page – 40-42, where special emphasis has been given in emergency situations, to adhere to the principles of “DO NO HARM’, which is a key approach of CASA’s Local Capacities for Peace (LCP).

| DEVELOPMENT PROGRAMMES AND ACTIVITIES OF CASA: |

It can be divided into three categories. 1. Direct Programmes: The Core Programme 2. Package Programmes: Collective Forms of Cooperation (CFC) 3. Bilateral Programmes 1.Direct Programmes: The Core Programme
2. Package Programmes: Collective Forms of Cooperation (CFC) The Second category is the CFC (Collective Forms of Cooperation), popularly known as the “Package Programme”, where CASA does not implement the programmes directly but plays the role of an accompanier. It supports smaller NGOs and channelise the resources for the programme interventions received from various resource agencies. CASA supports these NGOs in a long term basis for a maximum period of 10 years. There are as many as 350 partner organisations have been supported by CASA in the CFC interventions so far.
The following are the CFC Programmes of CASA (alphabetically arranged): Ø Community Based Disaster Preparedness (CBDP) Ø Development Initiative in Western Orissa Ø Development Programme in North East India (DPNEI) Ø Empowerment of NGOs in West Bengal Ø Food for Community Development Programe Ø Local Capacities for Peace, South Asia Ø Lymphatic Filariasis Programme in Orissa Ø Material Aid Section (MAS) Ø Rajasthan Development Project – Phase III / Rajasthan Vikash Manch Ø Regional Inter Agency Partnership (RIAP) between India, Bangladesh, Nepal and Sri Lanka) Ø West Bengal Community Based Disaster Preparedness Programme
3. Bilateral Programmes There are certain strategic partnership programmes of CASA which are carried out with certain partners with specific focus and strategy where both CASA and the concerned partner organisation share the financial as well as human resources to achieve a common goal. Some of the Bilateral programmes of CASA is being carried out with the HRLN (Human Rights Law Networks), CHRI, etc.
