With this aim, CASA has been working and active in Rajasthan for more than five decade. Since then, strong and trust worthy relation has been developed with the local partners all over the state. One of the important strategies of CASA has been to work with the local people’s institutions in the operational area. These institutions are the foundation of the rights based work specially focusing on Food Security of Marginalized, Deprived and poor people, which is planned or implemented in the area.

MAHARASHTRA SOCIAL FORUM PDF Print E-mail
MAHARASHTRA SOCIAL FORUM (MSF) Maharashtra Social Forum (MSF), an extension of the World Social Forum was started with the idea to take the concept of "Another World is Possible", to the grassroots. To sensitise, the smallest of the units of society, to fight against war, injustice, social inequities, capitalism, and neo-liberalism. CASA has been actively involved in the WSF process since May 2003 when it was first held at Porto Alegre. CASA shares its concern for the adverse effect of neo-liberalism. CASA was also a part of the Indian Organising Committee for WSF 2004 held in Mumbai. The 1st MSF was organised in 2005 at Ahmednagar in May 2005. More than 6000 people participated in this event mostly from the rural Maharashtra. 137 organisations were registered. This Forum focused on land, water & forest rights, Dalit and Tribal rights, casteism, health and education and Impact of LPG (Liberalisation, Privatisation, and Globalisation). MSF-2007 was also held in Ahmednagar in March 2007. 130 organisations were registered. The Forum mainly focused on SEZ, Land, water and forest rights, Dalit and tribal rights, Casteism, Impact of LPG on Health and education, Women empowerment, Vision of youth, etc. CASA was able to mobilise 750 participants from all across Maharashtra for the forum.

Restoring Lost Childhood Project (2008-09) PDF Print E-mail
CASA has been working for the development and growth of abused children, especially the working children for over 5 years. It has gained a lot of experience on the dimensions of the problems of child labour and the nature of ventures in which children are engaged to work. CASA has termed their age group 5 to 18 years of age as childhood. CASA defines child labour as ‘Children who do not go to school between the age of 5 to 14 years and who are subjected to bondage and attached to perform illegal, illicit activities and carryout works which are harmful to their growth and future development. The age 15 to 18 years is the adolescent period, which is a crucial period in the life of a human being; this is a preparatory phase to adulthood and is therefore included in RLCP. This project came to a close officially by June 2008. The CRF has been capacitated to carry on the development process.
