CASA contributes to the Himachal Pradesh Dist.Disaster Management Plan, Kullu

We are pleased to  inform you that CASA has substantially contributed to the recently published   District Disaster Management plan jointly prepared by Kullu District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Himachal Pradesh .  To read the said document please click here or on the Himachal Pradesh Government website http://hpkullu.nic.in/disaster/DDMP-2011.pdf .

In the document you can see the contribution of our apex PAT unit CSK (Chetna Samiti Kullu) in Kullu, local CASA unit and Mountain Forum Himalayas (an effort of CASA in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand) in preparing this district disaster management plan and a separate chapter dedicated to CASA’s PROPOSAL OF DISASTER YOUTH VOLUNTEER on page 197.  You can also see Chapter – 6.3, Resource plan, Page – 40-42, where special emphasis has been given  in emergency situations,  to adhere to the principles of “DO NO HARM’, which is a key approach of CASA’s Local Capacities for Peace (LCP).

Launching of CASA’s LRM (Local Resource Mobilisation) - Climate Justice Programme

In Victoria School, Delhi by Director CASA: 18th January 2010

CASA’s Director, Dr. Sushant Agrawal inaugurated a Fete at St. Mary’s Home (for the aged) to commemorate its 138th year, and also launched CASA’s LRM- Climate Justice Programme in Victoria School, Delhi on 18th January 2010 .In his inaugural speech Dr. Agrawal considered it a  privilege  to be a part of this historic event and congratulated  all the concerned  officials  and staff of  both St. Mary’s Home and Victoria School for their commendable services to the  community for the past 14 decades. Dr. Agrawal also assured them of all possible assistance from CASA to continue their good work in the days to come. The Rt. Rev. Sunil Kumar Singh (Bishop-Diocese of Delhi: CNI), Rt. Rev. Collin Theodore (Bishop of Rajasthan Diocese: CNI), Mrs. S.M. Rao (Manager: St. Mary’s Home) and many other dignitaries were present on the occasion. Besides the Director, the Public Relations Officer and Policy Officer from CASA attended the programme.
While addressing a big audience including the inmates of St. Mary’s Home as well as the teachers and students of Victoria School, Dr. Agrawal stressed upon the need to combat the adverse effects of Climate Change and Global Warming in the world today. During the function, Mr. Dinesh Suna – Policy Officer, CASA talked to the students on the issue of Climate Change.

Further, to mark the occasion, Dr. Agrawal, Bishop Singh and Rt. Rev. Collin Theodre, Bishop of Rajasthan Diocese: CNI also planted saplings in the campus of St. Mary’s Home.
