Latest Update On CASA’s Work In Karnataka And Andhra Pradesh Floods as on 09th October 2009 PDF Print E-mail

UPDATE - AP &KARNATAKA FLOODS & RELIEF PROGRAMME (Vol –II) In Andhra Pradesh a massive restoration operations is in progress. Breaches to the right flood bank of the Krishna at Voleru have been plugged. While in many villages the water has receded there are still villages under four feet of water necessitating pumping to dewater the localities. Efforts are also taken to bail out water from the right bank powerhouse which was submerged. Minister for Information J. Geetha Reddy told reporters after a review of the flood situation by Chief Minister K. Rosaiah that none of the 571 villages, which were in water were cut off. She said that 3.6 lakh out of 17.5 lakh people affected by the floods were still staying in 293 relief camps. The death toll had gone up to 65. Power supply was restored to five out of six flood-hit towns, 486 out of the 627 villages and to all 49 mandal headquarters. Efforts were being made on a war-footing to repair the Sunkesula Barrage in 10 days so that Kurnool would get assured drinking water.

AP &KARNATAKA FLOODS - THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE ARE HOMELESS (Vol –I)

Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh reel under unprecedented floods that have resulted in the deaths of over 240 people and widespread destruction of public property, crops and infrastructure, etc. Millions of people have been affected by the flood fury in Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka, with lakhs of them being displaced from their homes and accommodated in temporary relief shelters, even as many reservoirs and rivers, especially the Krishna, were said to be overflowing causing inundation and submergence in vast swathes cutting across the two neighboring states.

CASA’s Action and Appeal for providing immediate relief to the victims of Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh Floods October 2009 PDF Print E-mail

CASA is registered as a Society under the Societies’ Registration Act XXI of 1860.  Its members consist of 24 Protestant and Orthodox Churches in India and CASA functions as the only outreach arm of these Churches. As the Related Agency of the National Council of Churches in India, CASA is mandated to do relief work on behalf of all the Protestant Churches, including the Lutheran Churches in India.

Dr. G. Devadanam passes away PDF Print E-mail

“We are deeply saddened to receive the news that our respected Dr. G. Devadanam passed away on the afternoon of 10th August 2009.Dr. G. Devadanam from the Samavesam of Telugu Baptist Churches (STBC) was closely associated with the work of CASA and also served on its National Board from 2002 to 2007. CASA was privileged by Dr. Devadanam’s association, and benefited greatly from his knowledge and experience. On Dr. G. Devadanam’s sudden demise, with profound grief and sorrow, the Director and all staff members of CASA convey the deepest condolences to the bereaved family.”
