| CASA contributes to the Himachal Pradesh Dist.Disaster Management Plan, Kullu |
We are pleased to inform you that CASA has substantially contributed to the recently published District Disaster Management plan jointly prepared by Kullu District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Himachal Pradesh . In the document you can see the contribution of our apex PAT unit CSK (Chetna Samiti Kullu) in Kullu, local CASA unit and Mountain Forum Himalayas (an effort of CASA in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand) in preparing this district disaster management plan and a separate chapter dedicated to CASA’s PROPOSAL OF DISASTER YOUTH VOLUNTEER on page 197. You can also see Chapter – 6.3, Resource plan, Page – 40-42, where special emphasis has been given in emergency situations, to adhere to the principles of “DO NO HARM’, which is a key approach of CASA’s Local Capacities for Peace (LCP).

Hey I was born safely at CASA relief Camp (Mirzawa, Supaul) My mum says that this is not the world it used to be. It used to be dry land with green all over. Enough place for all to play. Eating good food and drinking safe water. Now we are in the relief camp for flood affected. Water all over! but no clean water to drink; very little food to eat and no place to play! But don’t worry says my mum, I will feed you my milk! My mum cried when she said ‘you may not understand the pain and suffering that night I underwent when I had to swim with you in my belly, struggling to save our life. We have to wait here in this camp until the water dries away. When we go back I don’t know whether the little home will be there or not. I always dream you jump and play in that little shed. But… I heard once our owner telling that we may never see that village I grew up, because river Kosi has taken its new course over it. Life is so unsafe here in this narrow bank of this swollen river. Come close to me… My mother said it all…
