CASA’s flood relief camp in Gamaria Block in Madhepura district has 550 people. Most of the people still remember, with fear, the way they had to escape the roaring Kosi. For people in Madhepura district flood from Kosi this year is their first experience. ‘I have never seen such disastrous flood in my life time’ says 75 year old Muni Devi. Every year they experience flood during the monsoon season, where flood is caused by the rain water. Traditionally, on their own, they are prepared to face floods during this season. They save enough grain, protect sufficient seed and neither crops nor their homes are damaged in the annual floods that dries in couple of weeks. This time, life is not going to be the same for all these victims. They had to leave their cattle, the stocked grains and stored seed; they could only save their lives. Since even the crops are spoiled by the irate river, people fear breakout of famine. Even after the land dries up, without external support, resuming life in villages will be a distant dream. CASA  will ensure to sustain their lives before they are settled in their native village. Join your hands with us to make dreams and hopes of these people come true…
