We are pleased to inform you that CASA has substantially contributed to the recently published District Disaster Management plan jointly prepared by Kullu District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Himachal Pradesh . In the document you can see the contribution of our apex PAT unit CSK (Chetna Samiti Kullu) in Kullu, local CASA unit and Mountain Forum Himalayas (an effort of CASA in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand) in preparing this district disaster management plan and a separate chapter dedicated to CASA’s PROPOSAL OF DISASTER YOUTH VOLUNTEER on page 197. You can also see Chapter – 6.3, Resource plan, Page – 40-42, where special emphasis has been given in emergency situations, to adhere to the principles of “DO NO HARM’, which is a key approach of CASA’s Local Capacities for Peace (LCP).

Sushila Devi and her three children from Kusaha village in Supaul District of Bihar are starving for the past 10 days. Weak and hungry, her eight months’ old child is crying for milk but, due to her own physical weakness she is unable to even breast-feed the baby. Despite the surrounding floods waters, nevertheless, the relief team form CASA has succeeded in reaching and rescuing Sushila and her children. Further, biscuits and drinking water have been provided to them by CASA and suitable arrangements are being made also for their food, shelter and health care in a safer place.
