| CASA contributes to the Himachal Pradesh Dist.Disaster Management Plan, Kullu |
We are pleased to inform you that CASA has substantially contributed to the recently published District Disaster Management plan jointly prepared by Kullu District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Himachal Pradesh . In the document you can see the contribution of our apex PAT unit CSK (Chetna Samiti Kullu) in Kullu, local CASA unit and Mountain Forum Himalayas (an effort of CASA in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand) in preparing this district disaster management plan and a separate chapter dedicated to CASA’s PROPOSAL OF DISASTER YOUTH VOLUNTEER on page 197. You can also see Chapter – 6.3, Resource plan, Page – 40-42, where special emphasis has been given in emergency situations, to adhere to the principles of “DO NO HARM’, which is a key approach of CASA’s Local Capacities for Peace (LCP).

HUMANITARIAN AID FUND (HAF) – REFLECTION & SHARING WORKSHOP (5TH & 6TH May 2009)A 2 days reflection & sharing workshop was organized by CASA along with DKH – Germany, on the 5th & 6th of May 2009 at New Delhi, aimed at experience sharing by the partners, reviewing the mechanism and also look at ways of strengthening the Humanitarian Aid Fund mechanism of CASA & DKH. The first half of first day was also devoted to thematic presentations on Climate Change. The details of the presentations made are as given below: · Mr. K. Srinivas of Green Peace India made the presentation on the topic “Climate Change: Key concerns & issues in Indian context”. · Mr. Peter Rottach of DKH, who is also the Chairperson of ACT International’s Climate Change Group spoke on the Global concerns of Climate Change and the road ahead for DKH, CASA and its partners. · Ms. Kerstin Berger of DKH and Mr. Jayant Kumar of CASA spoke on the ‘Role of Civil Society Organisations / NGOs in addressing the issues of climate change’. The deliberations were chaired by Dr. Sushant Agrawal - Director CASA, Mr. Nirmal Singh - Head of Emergency and Mrs. Sheila Jones – Chief Zonal Officer (South Zone). A total of 33 participants attended this workshop.
