PRESS RELEASE 2 : CASA NATIONAL BOARD APPEALS TO THE ORISSA GOVERNMENT TO STOP ATROCITIES AGAINST CHRISTIANS BY EXTREMISTSPress ReleaseCASA NATIONAL BOARD APPEALS TO THE ORISSA GOVERNMENT TO STOP ATROCITIES AGAINST CHRISTIANS BY EXTREMISTSThe CASA National Board, comprising of the Protestant and Orthodox Churches in India, which met for its annual session on 28 November 2008 in New Delhi, expresses its deepest concern at the continuing atrocities on the Christian minorities in Orissa and appeals to the Government of the State for measures to restore peace and confidence in Kandhamal district. It is the State’s responsibility to protect the lives of its people. It is unfortunate that these atrocities are continuing and the perpetrators are going scot-free. The Board condemns unequivocally the gruesome murder of Swami Lakshmanananda Saraswati and his associates and the culprits must be brought to book. We call upon all the citizens of the nation to stand united to defeat the divisive forces and create an environment where people can lead fear-free lives with peace and dignity. 28th November 2008 Dr. Sushant Agrawal New Delhi Director, CASA (On behalf of the CASA National Board)
