CASA contributes to the Himachal Pradesh Dist.Disaster Management Plan, Kullu

We are pleased to  inform you that CASA has substantially contributed to the recently published   District Disaster Management plan jointly prepared by Kullu District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Himachal Pradesh .  To read the said document please click here or on the Himachal Pradesh Government website http://hpkullu.nic.in/disaster/DDMP-2011.pdf .

In the document you can see the contribution of our apex PAT unit CSK (Chetna Samiti Kullu) in Kullu, local CASA unit and Mountain Forum Himalayas (an effort of CASA in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand) in preparing this district disaster management plan and a separate chapter dedicated to CASA’s PROPOSAL OF DISASTER YOUTH VOLUNTEER on page 197.  You can also see Chapter – 6.3, Resource plan, Page – 40-42, where special emphasis has been given  in emergency situations,  to adhere to the principles of “DO NO HARM’, which is a key approach of CASA’s Local Capacities for Peace (LCP).

Church Leader’s Consultation on Disaster Management, NCC SRILANKA, 4-6 November 2008

CASA continues to engage itself in the process of empowering its fellow south Asian countries through several programmes and activities. In this empowering process, CASA, on the invitation of the NCC (National Christian Council) of Sri Lanka went to Sri Lanka under the leadership of the Director of CASA, Dr. Sushant Agrawal to organise a Church Leaders’ Consultation on Disaster Management.

A young team from CASA accompanied him namely, Mr. Dinesh Suna – Policy Officer, Mr. Salmon Jacob – Project Officer-Emergency, Ms. Joycia Thorat, Project Officer-West Zone & Mr. Jonathan Rout – Project Officer-East Zone.   The objective of this Workshop was to strengthen the Disaster Response Mechanism of NCC Sri Lanka and its constituencies. The facilitation skill as well as the content of the inputs were very much appreciated by the participants.  As an outcome, the participants came out with a Plan of Action for the year 2009 towards Effective Disaster Management by NCC SL.
