CASA contributes to the Himachal Pradesh Dist.Disaster Management Plan, Kullu

We are pleased to  inform you that CASA has substantially contributed to the recently published   District Disaster Management plan jointly prepared by Kullu District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Himachal Pradesh .  To read the said document please click here or on the Himachal Pradesh Government website http://hpkullu.nic.in/disaster/DDMP-2011.pdf .

In the document you can see the contribution of our apex PAT unit CSK (Chetna Samiti Kullu) in Kullu, local CASA unit and Mountain Forum Himalayas (an effort of CASA in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand) in preparing this district disaster management plan and a separate chapter dedicated to CASA’s PROPOSAL OF DISASTER YOUTH VOLUNTEER on page 197.  You can also see Chapter – 6.3, Resource plan, Page – 40-42, where special emphasis has been given  in emergency situations,  to adhere to the principles of “DO NO HARM’, which is a key approach of CASA’s Local Capacities for Peace (LCP).

EWN Participants’ Meeting, Geneva 22-24 October 2008 PDF Print E-mail

The Ecumenical Water Network was formed by Christian agencies and movements:

* to make a Christian witness heard in the present debate on water issues,
* to raise the awareness of the churches on the urgency of the concern,
* to engage as an ecumenical community in common action at all levels


with the aim to promote the preservation, responsible management and the equitable distribution of water for all, based on the understanding that water is a gift of God and a fundamental human right.

This is an initiative of the WCC and its office is in the WCC premise in Geneva.  EWN started towards late 2005 and organised the Participant’s meeting during 22-24 October 2008.  Mr. Dinesh Suna participated in this meeting representing CASA.   There were 30 participants   from different parts of the world, representing churches/ Church Councils/ Church based organisations and Resource sharing agencies.  During the three days several issues were discussed and key priorities for EWN was arrived at through group works.  Towards the end, the New Steering Group was formed for the EWN comprising of 8 members.  Mr. Dinesh Suna got elected as the Steering Group member from Asia. Others in the steering group represented- Bread for the World, Norwegian Church Aid (NCA), Church of Sweden, Church World Service (CWS), All Africa Council of Churches (AACC), CLAI (Latin America), World Council of Churches (WCC)
