CASA contributes to the Himachal Pradesh Dist.Disaster Management Plan, Kullu

We are pleased to  inform you that CASA has substantially contributed to the recently published   District Disaster Management plan jointly prepared by Kullu District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), Himachal Pradesh .  To read the said document please click here or on the Himachal Pradesh Government website http://hpkullu.nic.in/disaster/DDMP-2011.pdf .

In the document you can see the contribution of our apex PAT unit CSK (Chetna Samiti Kullu) in Kullu, local CASA unit and Mountain Forum Himalayas (an effort of CASA in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand) in preparing this district disaster management plan and a separate chapter dedicated to CASA’s PROPOSAL OF DISASTER YOUTH VOLUNTEER on page 197.  You can also see Chapter – 6.3, Resource plan, Page – 40-42, where special emphasis has been given  in emergency situations,  to adhere to the principles of “DO NO HARM’, which is a key approach of CASA’s Local Capacities for Peace (LCP).

MNREGA is such an important Act that can improve the livelihood resources and economic condition of poor people, provided it is effectively implemented.  It can not only enhance the income of the rural poor in the short term but also can create durable assets in the villages and thus generate productive infrastructure in a sustainable manner which is much needed for poverty alleviation.  However question remains on the implementation of the Act. The government has initiated many welfare schemes and policies but poverty still remains high. Policies are good but implementations of these policies are pathetic. That is why it is aptly said that “All policies and Acts are as good as they are implemented”  !

Diamond Jubilee special publication of CASA, titled as "Mission Redefined: CASA at 60" (Abridged Version-Part I & II).  Part I talks about the CASA's 60 years of journey and part -II talks about the Theological and Ethical interpretation of CASA's work.  The book was authored by Dr. Somen Das and the abridged version was drafted by Mr. Rajendra Kumar Sail.
